The Challenge

Anish had a sub-par GMAT score of 710. He also was more experienced than the class average and had a masters which made him older as well (30 at the time of applying). He also missed the majority of Round 1.

The Solution

Given Anish’s experience, we knew that he had to start school next year. Waiting another year was not an option. Given his test scores and the fact that he was late to the application cycle, our strategy involved applying to some safe schools as well as ambitious one’s.

Hence, we went all in and applied to more than the 5 we typically recommend. We decided to focus on his story rather than merely a test score. He wanted to focus on the engineering work he had been doing.

By delving deep into his story, we uncovered his passion for cars. We also discovered how he had a dream of once working with Mercedes. We changed the narrative, to not only working with Mercedes but to building the next generation of cars.

And then we tied it all in together with a great story of perseverance. And so we shaped his goals as well. Continuing on the story of mobility, but now of commercializing innovations for the next generation of mobility.

The Result

Accepted at 6 of the 10 schools he applied to. Chose Harvard
